General Information

Audio Visual Equipment
The plenary room will be equipped with the following:

  • 1 Projection screen
  • 1 LCD projector
  • Laptop PC computer (all presentations will be done from a central computer and must be uploaded 4 hours before your presentation. There will no personal computers allowed)
  • 1 Podium microphone
  • 1 Wireless microphone (lapel mic)
  • 1 table microphone (session moderator)
  • 1 laser pointer
  • Portable microphones will be used for Q&A

Certification of Attendance
All delegates will receive as part of their conference/symposium documentation a certificate of attendance.

Conference Publications
All delegates are entitled to the Book of Proceedings and the National Delegates Report.

Currency and Banking Facilities
Canadian currency is the dollar, which is divided into 100 cents. There are 5, 10, 25, 50, 100 and 1,000 dollar bills. One and two dollar bills have been replaced by coins often referred to as "loonies" (the bird on the $1 coin is a loon and "toonies" $2). There is a foreign exchange booth at the Montréal -Pierre-Elliott Trudeau International Airport. Banks and ABM machines can be found throughout the city.

Electricity
The electrical voltage in Canada is 110V (60 cycles) which is the same as in the United States. If you are travelling from Europe or elsewhere, you will need an adapter to use small appliances. Adapters can be found at most department and electrical stores in downtown Montreal.

Entry Formalities (Passport and Visa)
A valid travel document, such as a passport is mandatory and a visa may be required. For additional information regarding entry formalities and visas, please visit the website for Citizenship and Immigration Canada at www.cic.gc.ca. You can also consult with your nearest Canadian Embassy, High Commission, Consulate, Customs agent or your travel agent.
You should allow a minimum of 30 days for visa delivery.

First Aid
In the event of a medical emergency, please go directly to the Registration desk. Alternatively, the hotel front desk will provide assistance.

Health Insurance
Visitors are NOT covered by the Canadian Health Insurance Plan. It is therefore recommended that participants arrange their own health and accident coverage. This can be done before leaving home through a local travel agent or medical association.

Letter of Invitation
The Conference will be pleased to send an official letter of invitation to any attendee making such a request. It is understood that such an invitation is intended to help potential attendees obtain travel funds or a visa. The letter does not constitute any financial commitment on the part of the conference. Liability
The ICAF 2011 registration fees DO NOT include provisions for the insurance of participants against personal injuries, sickness and theft or property damage. This also applies to any event held during the conference/symposium period. Participants and accompanying persons are advised to arrange for insurance they consider necessary. Neither the ICAF 2011 Organizing Committee, nor its sponsors nor committee members assume any responsibility for loss, injury or damage to persons or belongings, however caused.

Lost and Found
Lost and found articles may be taken to the conference Registration Desk. Any items left at the Registration Desk after the meeting has ended on Friday, June 3rd will be left with the Security Office of the hotel.

Meals and Refreshments
At lunchtime, light meals will be served every day beginning on Monday, May 30 in the exhibit and poster area. Coffee breaks will also be served in the exhibit/poster area.

Name Badges
All Conference and Symposium registrants and exhibitors are required to wear their name badge in order to gain entry to the scientific sessions, exhibition, meals and refreshment breaks. Access is by badge only.

Public Transit
There is a shuttle bus from the Pierre-Elliott Trudeau International Airport that stops at several downtown hotels. The cost for the bus is approximately $13.00 CAD. Taxis are also available from the airport to downtown at a cost of approximately $35.00 CAD.

Montreal Public Transit — The Tourist Card, for $7/day or $14 for 3 days, allows for unlimited use of the transit system. The subway lines make travelling between downtown hotels, shops, attractions and the Marriott Château Champlain hotel very practical.
